Arturo Morales Arturo (Art) Morales was appointed Castle Rock Fire Chief in March 2003.

Chief Morales oversees fire and rescue service within the Town's 66-square-mile area, including the Town of Castle Rock and the Castle Rock Fire Protection District in Douglas County. The department also provides paramedic rescue service to the Jackson 105 Fire Protection District as well as parts of Pike National Forest. In addition, Chief Morales serves as the chair of the United Fire Dispatch Authority and is an active member of the Douglas County, Metro Chiefs and State Fire Chiefs Associations.

Prior to joining the Town, Chief Morales worked with the Thornton Fire Department where, in 1979, he was hired as a firefighter. He spent 23 years there working his way to firefighter paramedic, public education specialist, fire captain, emergency manager for Y2K, battalion chief, assistant chief and for his last three years there he was deputy fire chief.

He has received commendations for his service at the crash of Continental Flight 1713, Capri Hotel Fire, rescuing a drowning child, and for establishing public education programs for the Thornton Fire Department. Chief Morales is a passionate student of leadership and effective team building, and has developed “On the Court or In the Stands” to enhance these valuable skills in others. He recently completed the University of Denver – Daniels College of Business, Public Safety Leadership Institute program, and is a graduate of the Leadership Douglas County program.

Chief Morales and his family live in Castle Rock and enjoy outdoor activities. He is continuing his bachelor of science studies in Fire Service Administration through Colorado State University.
